Berkley Office Park is rapidly nearing completion and it is great to welcome tenants into the park. Our featured company this week, Altimax, has their office space here, we asked MD Annalien Carstens to tell us more about herself and the company – here is what she had to say:
Q: How would you be introduced by a close friend at a social event? i.e. Name, age, company, title, interesting fact etc.

Q: Tell us something that not many others know about you. This could be anything related to your family, children, their achievements, hobbies, interests etc.
A: I just can’t remember Altimax’s telephone number to the dismay (and laughter) of my colleagues
Q: What do you enjoy doing when you want to get away from it all?
A: I like the outdoors and reading
Q: Which book had the biggest impact on you and why?
A: The Bible – it is the world’s largest encyclopaedia, the world’s largest leadership book, the world’s largest management book, the world’s largest book about life
Q: Who is/has been the most important mentor in your life and why?
A: I have 3 mentors:
1) My grandmother (on my mother’s side) – for teaching me never to stop believing no matter what
2) My mother – for teaching me to always strive to be the best that I can be and never to give up
3) Altimax’s Chairperson, Marietjie de Wet – for showing me that it is possible to always see good in everybody no matter what
Q: If you could invite any three South Africans to a dinner party, who would you invite?
A: Anton Rupert, Helen Zille, Nelson Mandela
Q: Which gadgets do you personally use on a day-to-day basis and if you had to pick a single gadget you could not live without, which would it be?
A: Blackberry, laptop – single most important one is my Blackberry

A: September 2003
Q: What do you specialise in?
A: Altimax is an accounting, business advisory and training firm. Our focus areas involve advisory and training on principles of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Recognised Accounting Practices (GRAP). Altimax is a FASSET and LG SETA accredited training provider with a vast array of specialised training programmes. Our employees are all carefully selected accounting and business professionals, highly experienced in their respective fields.
Altimax has a strong presence in the public sector, established through our clients and staff. During each of our engagements our focus areas involve the following: skills transfer, ultimate service delivery and project management. Altimax specialises in assisting departments, municipalities and public entities with GRAP and legislative compliance. Our advisory services are mainly aimed at turnaround strategies, clean audit initiatives and revenue enhancement.
Our involvement in the private sector is equally important with recent product development in the following areas: Enterprise Resource Planner (ERP) implementation and Enterprise Development Specialists (EDS). A: I live 100 meters from my office – that is simply great!
